What we accept

If it is a book, the answer is almost always yes. Here is the specific list, including the things people are surprised we want.

We take all of this

  • Hardcover books. Almost any subject, any age, with or without the dust jacket.
  • Trade paperbacks. The larger softcovers, roughly 6 by 9 inches.
  • Textbooks of any age. Older editions included. Do not throw out a textbook because it looks out of date.
  • Children's and teen books. Picture books, chapter books, board books, young adult.
  • Cookbooks. Single titles and whole collections.
  • Fiction and nonfiction. History, biography, art, religion, science, hobby, craft, reference.
  • Ex-library copies and discards. Stamps, spine labels and plastic jackets are all fine with us.
  • DVDs. Loose discs are fine if the case is missing, as long as the disc is clean.
  • Music CDs. Any genre.
  • Audiobooks on CD. Complete sets preferred, but ask us either way.
  • Cassette tapes. Both music and spoken word.
  • Video games. Any console, any era, with or without the case.

Three things people wrongly assume we will not take

Old textbooks

An out-of-date edition is not automatically worthless. Older textbooks often sell steadily to students who need the cheaper edition, and to people who simply want the subject. Do not bin them before asking.

Ex-library books and discards

Stamps, spine labels, barcode stickers, plastic jacket covers, all fine. We work with libraries constantly, so a book that says DISCARD across the edge is completely normal to us.

Loose discs with no case

A clean DVD or game disc with no case is still sellable. An empty case with no disc is not.

Condition, honestly

You do not need to sort by condition. Send us the whole shelf and let us do the judging. A useful rule of thumb: if you would hand it to a friend without apologizing, it is fine. Missing dust jackets, bumped corners, a name written inside the front cover and a bit of shelf wear are all normal and all welcome.

The one thing that genuinely matters is mold. If a box smells musty, keep it separate and tell us, because one bad box can contaminate a pallet.
