How pickups work in St. Petersburg

We are in St. Petersburg every Monday

St. Petersburg is on the Monday Pinellas route. We run fixed weekly routes so several pickups in one area go on the same trip, which is a large part of how we keep pickup free. Send your request before Monday and you are usually on that week’s run.

St. Petersburg gives us more large household collections than anywhere else we drive. A lot of that is the older housing stock in the Old Northeast and Kenwood, where houses have been lived in for decades and the books have piled up accordingly.

Neighborhoods and areas we collect from

Old Northeast, Historic Kenwood, Downtown, Snell Isle, Shore Acres, Crescent Lake, Euclid St. Paul, Jungle Terrace, Allendale, Pink Streets, Gulfport, St. Pete Beach, and everywhere else inside Pinellas County.

ZIP codes covered: 33701, 33702, 33703, 33704, 33705, 33706, 33707, 33708, 33709, 33710, 33711, 33712, 33713, 33714, 33715, 33716

Give your books a second life

Books you have finished with in St. Petersburg do not get thrown in a skip. Every box is opened and sorted by hand by people who sell books for a living, which is how anything genuinely worth something gets spotted rather than binned. A great deal of the rest lands on the tables at our monthly community book sale, priced at a dollar so local people actually take it home.

That sale raises money for South Holiday Library and the Clearwater Library System. So a shelf you have cleared in St. Petersburg turns into cheap books for a neighbor and funding for a local library. That is the whole idea: contribute to community book sales that support libraries, rather than watching a lifetime of reading go out with the recycling.

St. Petersburg questions

Where do St. Petersburg books actually end up?

Sorted by hand, then sent wherever they do the most good: our $1 community book sale, Little Free Libraries around the bay, children's wards, and Friends of the Library bookstores. The sale raises money for South Holiday Library and the Clearwater Library System.

Do you cover Gulfport and the beach communities?

Yes. Gulfport, St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island and the rest of the barrier island communities are all inside our Pinellas coverage.

I am downsizing from a house to a condo. Can you take everything at once?

Yes, and that is a job we do most weeks. There is no upper limit. If it is several hundred books or more, look at our large collections page and send photos, so we bring the right vehicle.

What day do you pick up in St. Petersburg, and can you make a closing date?

Mondays. All of Pinellas is on the Monday route. Put your closing or move-out date on the form. Real estate deadlines get priority, and if a Monday will not make it we will say so straight away rather than leaving you guessing.
